Rabbi Levi Meijers grew up in the heart of the Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, and spent his teenage years studying in New York. After a two year learning stint in Paris, France, he received his Rabbinical ordination in Moscow, Russia and then concluded his studies at the Central Chabad Yeshiva in New York.
As a Rabbinic intern, he’s led Jewish communities in France, Holland, Peru, Poland, Russia and across the United States. Levi also worked as a head counselor and program director for Camp L’maan Achai; a camp dedicated to combining a traditional Jewish experience with exciting recreation programs, geared towards Jewish children from unaffiliated backgrounds.
Mrs. Faigy Meijers was born and raised in London, England, where she received her full Chabad education, and then went on to complete a year of advanced Judaic studies in Los Angeles, California.
The following year, Faigy worked under Chabad of the Tri-Valley, where she taught at the local Cheder and Hebrew School. Faigy also worked as a youth group director, organizing various workshops and Shabbatons for children of all ages, as well as helping out in various community events and projects throughout her time there.
During the next couple of years, Faigy advanced further into education through working in a school for children with special needs, and then moving on to teaching Math at the local Chabad High School, where she taught a variety of ages and abilities.
Over the last two years, Faigy has been working as a project manager and writer for Tzivos Hashem (a Chabad children’s networking organization.)
Inspired by their mentor and teacher, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, the Meijers are passionate about making Judaism accessible for Jews throughout the world, and the importance of Jewish community.
With Tracy’s Jewish population rising, coupled with the lack of any formal Jewish community or education, the Meijers made the move to establish Chabad of Tracy Jewish Center, bringing their dreams to reality.
